Dear potential grad program I never had the intention of pursuing because of finances,
My name is Susanna and I am seeking admission to the Mass Communications Master of Science with a specialization in Strategic Communications program to encourage a life-sustaining wage.
Ever since I threw all stability out the window and snagged a $17 an hour Editorial Assistant position at Maxim Magazine during a prominent ownership and brand transformation to the quite immediate downfall of my personal life, mental health, and resilient behavior as an independent young woman on the precipice of a reality implosion/breaking my spine taking the entirety of my building (and the surrounding neighborhood’s) trash out (which I did for a mere $60 off my rent),
I learned quickly what it takes to be a dynamic lead in fast-paced, diverse roles. As a marketing lead, I work closely with executives to enhance the organizational strategies necessary to build outreach and clientele, design captivating content to promote engagement, and create marketing-focused processes to maintain retention.
With each role I take on, I assume more responsibility and insight of the inner workings of what it takes to run and benefit off of an intuitive collective of creative and analytical thinkers. From the long hours and exhaustive research to the marketing prowess and engagement tactics, I have seen and experienced businesses in NYC and Richmond thriving in their construction and enduring the realities that new businesses often reveal. This awareness presents a unique perspective of the innovative needs of small and large corporate entities and the balance of vulnerability and confidence that is imperative to form long-lasting partnerships.
It is my intent to use this study and degree as a catapult to one day own my own small business focused advertising/production agency. While I develop an understanding of my strengths, I have come to a point in my career where I seek longevity in a position where I can deepen my knowledge in the mechanics and communication acumen necessary to thrive as a manager and owner. I am certain the interdisciplinary studies of a Mass Communications, Masters of Science degree will allow me to engage with world class companies, media leaders, storytellers, and leadership organizations effectively and hone my skills within each medium.
I would be honored to join this program of elite leaders in communications. If you need anything to further my consideration, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the number provided above.
Sincerely,
Susanna
